1. What's Happening At The Trav
Traverse Theatre Company -
In The Bag
Fri 29 Apr - Sat 21 May (various
times)
The first full production
in the UK of a contemporary Chinese play and it's going to be a corker.
http://www.traverse.co.uk/show_detail.php?id=273
Vanishing Point - Mancub
Thu 5 - Sat 7 May (7.30pm)
The
beautiful and absurd story of a boy who seems to be turning into animals.

RSAMD Opera -The Coronation
of Poppea/Pelléas et Mélisande
Wed 11 - Sat 14 May

2. Competition Time
Do you want to be the first
to see the latest Traverse production 'In The Bag'?
And I mean the very first as I have four tickets up for grabs for the 1st
preview night on Fri 29 April at 8pm. Just answer the following question to my
rigorous intellectual standards:
Q: Who is the writer of 'In
The Bag'?
Answers have to be with me
by 12 noon, Thu 28 April and my despotic powers will decide who gets to be
Racing Snake Lance Armstrong and who gets to be Roly
Poly Jan Ullrich.
3. PND :
NYC
If you happen to be in New
York City before Sun 22 May, you can ignore the Statue of Liberty and all that
tourist malarky and go see the Traverse on tour.
That's right, we're camped out at the rather splendid 59E59 Theaters
in Manhatten where we're presenting Henry Adam's
blockbuster 'The People Next Door' as part of the Brits Off
Broadway festival. Globalisation? Bet your life. Get
the full information at http://www.59e59.org.
4. China Conference
To tie in with 'In the
Bag', we are holding a conference for theatre practitioners interested in
working with text-based work from (or in) China on Thu 5 & Fri 6 May.
Participants will be able to benefit from shared access to recent experiences
by British theatre companies, to hear about the new-writing scene from key
participants from mainland China, and to learn from the issues that UK artists
have so far encountered in collaborations with artists and playwrights in
China. You can get full information on the Conference at http://www.traverse.co.uk/show_detail.php?id=288
5. Chips, Pins & The Great Leap Forward
You'll be delighted to know
that the entire Trav is now equipped with the high rollin' technological thrill machines that are Chip &
Pin. So go to the Box Office or Bar Café, hand over your card, submit
your number and spend, spend, spend. Security, thy name is Traverse. Still no booking fees. Sorry.
6. The World Outside Our Window
In the next week, you must
seek pleasure and new experiences at Triptych (http://www.triptych05.com), go bluesy
with Ray Lamontange at Queens Hall
(http://www.raylamontagne.com) get dancing with Highland Fling at EFT
(http://www.eft.co.uk) and splash out on some art at Glasgow International
(http://www.glasgowinternational.org) . Take our
advice. It's free, it's genuine but it can only help as part of a calorie
controlled diet.
